Course objectives:
Principles and methods in electrical circuit theory. Study of electrical circuits in steady-state, dynamical and sinusoidal operating conditions. Fundamental electromagnetic and electromechanical applications in power devices and systems (transformers, asynchronous motors); fundamentals of protection and safety.

Tables of contents:
From electromagnetic fields to circuits. Main electrical parameters: voltage, current intensity, electrical power. Fundamental model for circuits: node and mesh equation, characteristics. Multi-port elements. Linear circuits; superposition, Thévènin and Norton equivalent elements. Dynamic main elements. First-order circuits. Basic approach to dynamics.Power frequency methods; complex notation. Electrical power in sinusoidal operating conditions. Complex power.Three-phase circuits.Electromagnetic coupling; the transformer, the losses in industrial transformers. Characterization, tests and main operation on industrial transformer.Asynchronous machine, applications.Main failure protection in electrical systems.Basic of electrical safety in low-voltage systems. The Standards.
